Cookie at Paws For Love
Before Bentley’s Barkery had years of celebrations behind it, there was Cookie.
Cookie was there at our grand opening, helping us welcome people into a place built especially for dogs and the people who love them. While we were opening doors, arranging treats and figuring out what Bentley’s Barkery could become, Cookie was already showing us what mattered most: the relationships we would build with the pups who came through those doors.
The Pup Behind “Pupstomers”
Cookie was not simply a dog who visited the Barkery. She was part of its language, personality and history.
There is a photograph of Cookie standing at the register as though she were ready to place an order or perhaps supervise the entire transaction. That moment helped inspire the word we still use today: pupstomers.
Customers sounded too formal for the dogs who came inside, pressed their noses toward the display and waited for their treats. They were not merely accompanying the people who shopped with us. They were the reason those people were there.
They were our pupstomers.
And Cookie was one of the first to make that clear

Now you have a new place to welcome them.
Rest well, Old Girl. Keep watch near the bridge, show the new arrivals where the treats are and let them know their families have not forgotten them.
